New Year in Korea

Last weekend my wife, my trusty 009 and I took a quick trip to Seoul, South Korea. The idea was to do some cold weather activities and toast the New Year in style.

Well, it certainly was cold and after spending the first day strolling Everland Park, an hour south of Seoul, we were so exhausted we didn't make it to midnight!

For the record Myeondong has the best street food in the world.

The next day we took a trip to Nami Island. If you guys are hip with Korean TV dramas, Winter Sonata is filmed here.

After Nami Island we found our way to Petite France.

And finally on our last full day, we visited Lotte World again for more cold weather fun.

Thanks for allowing me to share. Happy New Year to all!

That is some cool stuff, Arty! I haven't been to Korea since a port visit in Pusan (now Osan, I think), back 1989. A friend of mine, the owner of BDWF.net (Best Damned Watch Forum), is a retired U.S. Army light colonel who teaches various & sundry stuff to U.S. Army folks stationed over in Daegu. (He says the best time to go over there is during the summer, as the young ladies, who now have much better nutrition than those a mere generation ago, have very nice long legs & lovely, full breatices, and wear halters & teensy little shorts, or even skimpier outfits, like these, during that time of year:

That dirty old man; he's 68 and has a very striking resemblance to Bernie Sanders...if Bernie were, say, ten years OLDER, like Conjurer... :D )

So what brought you to Korea, Arty? Your family? Her family? Both? Neither, but you both love authentic kimchee? Inquiring minds wanna know, Arty!

My work sent me to SK last year for a conference. Since then we've gone back 2 more times because we just really like the place. Going to these Asian destinations is a lot cheaper and easier than going stateside so we try to take advantage of it as much as we can. Getting off Guam 2 or 3 times a year is necessary for maintaining our sanity. Island life is great, but geez we're in the middle of the frickn Pacific and there are only so many movies you can watch before you go ape shit crazy.

That's cool...my lady and I love Singapore and Hong Kong in much the same way; we were lucky enough to make a couple of meet-ups in each place over the years as I deployed with the USN, and we're planning to do a multi-country re-visit soon.
